Delete Niyyah Data#

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Niyyah does not use user accounts or upload your prayer, Quran, or dhikr history to a Niyyah server. Most Niyyah data is stored only inside the app on your device.

Delete data inside Niyyah#

  1. Open Niyyah.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Data & backup.
  4. Select Delete all data.
  5. Read the summary, then confirm Delete all data.
  6. Keep Niyyah open until Local data deleted appears.

This removes from the current installation:

Deletion cannot be undone. Export a backup first if you may want the history later.

If you cannot open Niyyah#

You can remove the app's local storage through the operating system:

Deleting or clearing the app normally removes the current on-device installation data. Your device or platform account may still retain an older backup depending on your backup settings.

Copies that are not deleted automatically#

The in-app action cannot delete information outside the current installation, including:

Delete exported files and backups directly from every service or device where you stored them. Empty the relevant trash or recently deleted folder if you need immediate removal.

Analytics choice and identifier reset#

Optional PostHog product analytics is off by default. If you opted in, you can stop future events without deleting local worship history:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Data & privacy.
  3. If you want already-sent events deleted, tap Analytics installation ID and save the copied random ID for your request.
  4. Turn Optional usage analytics off.

In a release with analytics enabled, turning analytics off stops future events, clears pending analytics work, and replaces the local random identifier. It does not automatically delete events or the pseudonymous profile PostHog already received. We retain them only while useful for understanding and improving Niyyah, review that need at least annually, and delete data that is no longer needed. You can request earlier deletion using the installation ID. Delete all data also replaces the local identifier as part of the full local reset.

Request deletion of information held by support or providers#

For information that may have been sent off the device, email niyyah@sohan.dev with the subject Niyyah data deletion request. Describe which interaction you want us to review—for example a support email or diagnostic report—and approximately when it occurred.

Niyyah has no account and does not link analytics or diagnostic identifiers to your name or email. We may therefore be unable to locate a remote event from your email address alone. Contact us before resetting an identifier where practical and include the current random analytics identifier if the app makes it available. We may ask for limited information needed to verify and fulfil a request, but we will not ask you to provide worship history merely to prove identity.

We will respond according to applicable law and the capabilities of the relevant provider. Some limited records may need to be retained temporarily for security, legal compliance, or an active dispute. We will explain any applicable limitation.

No account deletion is required#

Niyyah does not create a cloud account, so there is no Niyyah account to close. The external deletion page exists to explain local deletion and how to contact us about the limited information that can leave the device.

For more information, read the Niyyah Privacy Policy.
