Niyyah Support#
Last updated: August 6, 2026
Niyyah is maintained by an independent developer. Support is available in English by email at niyyah@sohan.dev.
Niyyah does not require an account. Support cannot remotely view, change, synchronize, or recover your worship history.
Before contacting support#
Please include:
- your Niyyah version, shown under Settings → About Niyyah;
- whether you use iPhone or Android and your operating-system version;
- what you expected to happen;
- what happened instead; and
- steps that reproduce the problem, if known.
Please do not attach a Niyyah export or personal worship history unless it is necessary and you have decided to share it. Exports are unencrypted JSON and may contain worship history, rounded location, settings, and timestamps.
Prayer-time help#
If a prayer time looks incorrect, first check:
- Location and timezone under Settings → Location.
- Calculation method under Settings → Prayer settings.
- Asr calculation—Hanafi or Standard.
- High-latitude rule and manual offsets under advanced prayer settings.
- Your device's automatic date, time, and timezone settings.
Niyyah may differ from a local mosque because calculation methods and adjustments vary. Niyyah is a tracking tool, not a religious authority; consult a trusted scholar or local mosque for questions about religious practice.
To report a likely calculation problem, open Settings → Help & support → Report a prayer-time issue. The report always includes the app version. You decide whether to add rounded location, prayer settings, a prayer-time preview, or notification settings. You can review and edit the email before sending it. The report tool does not attach worship history.
Notification help#
If reminders do not arrive:
- Open Settings → Notifications and confirm the reminder is enabled.
- Confirm notification permission in your device settings.
- Check Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery-saving, and app-notification settings.
- Open Niyyah after changing location, timezone, prayer settings, or notification permission so the seven-day schedule can refresh.
- Confirm the device date, time, and timezone are correct.
Local notifications depend on the operating system. Niyyah cannot guarantee exact delivery and should not be your only way of knowing a prayer time.
Export and restore#
Create a backup under Settings → Data & backup → Export Niyyah data. Niyyah displays a privacy warning before creating the unencrypted JSON file.
Restore accepts a valid Niyyah export into an empty installation. It does not merge two histories. If the app already contains records or non-default setup, follow the protected restore flow to export the current data before deleting it.
Niyyah has no cloud backup or remote recovery service. Support cannot reconstruct a lost local database, obtain a backup from your device, or decrypt a damaged file.
Delete data#
For complete instructions, see Delete Niyyah data.
Inside the app, open Settings → Data & backup → Delete all data. This removes the local Niyyah database and settings, cancels scheduled Niyyah reminders, and replaces the local analytics installation identifier. It does not delete exported files, old device backups, support emails, or provider data already sent off the device.
Privacy and security#
Read the Niyyah Privacy Policy for details about local data, location lookup, optional analytics, diagnostics, retention, and privacy requests.
To report a privacy or security concern, email niyyah@sohan.dev. Do not include exploit details in a public issue. Include enough information for us to understand the concern, but do not send secrets or unrelated personal data.
Accessibility#
Niyyah supports system text scaling, screen readers, and reduced-motion preferences in its core flows. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, email support with the screen name, device, operating-system version, and assistive setting in use.
What support cannot decide#
Support can help with app behavior, data controls, and prayer-calculation settings. It cannot provide fatwas, judge worship, or replace advice from a qualified scholar or local mosque.
